N52 - Mullingar to Belvedere (5 Km)

Project Summary:
To progress the roads programme of the National Development Plan for Ireland, Halcrow Barry was appointed by Westmeath County Council and the National Roads Authority to undertake the design and contract documentation of a single carriageway road improvement on the N52 national secondary route between Mullingar and Belvedere. The 11.5 million Euro scheme involves the construction of 5 Km of single carriageway, extending from the Mullingar Bypass at Tullanisky and connecting to the existing N52 at Carrick Bridge.

The Feasiblity Stage ended in 2000, and a Public Inquiry was held in 2001. In 2004, Halcrow Barry were re-appointed by Westmeath County Council to undertake the Detailed Design of the scheme. They were also appointed to act as the Client's Supervisor during the Construction phase of the scheme, which started in December 2005. The new road opened in May 2007.

This project is a Halcrow Barry Project, the Joint Venture Company between Halcrow Group Limited and J. B. Barry & Partners.
