Project SummaryTechnical Assistance and Supervision of 3 ISPA Contracts in Deva and Hunedoara over a 43-month contract period, involving improvements in the drinking water (treatment and distribution) and wastewater (collection and treatment). The project involved:
- Technical Assistance to the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) to improve the Water & Sewerage systems
primarily in Deva and Hunedoara towns (total population of 144,000)located some 10-12 km apart in the centre of
Hunedoara County, in Western Romania;
- Management Support for the Final Beneficiary (Water and Wastewater Utility Operator and municipal authorities for the local
towns in Hunedoara county) including preparation of asset management plan, development of comprehensive sludge management strategy,
finalization and assistance in the implementation of industrial wastewater action plan, development and implementation of a long
term leakage and infiltration plan comprising condition survey of the networks, preparation and implementation of catchment plan,
development of an operation and management strategy, modelling of WS/WW networks:
- Detailed Design Review and Contract Supervision for 3 Construction Contracts:
1. Pipelines (Conventional Procurement for 200km up to 2.0m diam.) to FIDIC Red Book CoC, Works €26.7m;
2. Water Treatment Plants (Design/Build Procurement to FIDIC Yellow Book CoC), Works €15.0m, and
3. Waste Water Treatment Plants - 185,000 P.E. (Design/Build procurement to FIDIC Yellow Book CoCs) Works €18.0m
- Design and implementation of a Publicity Plan & Awareness Campaign for the Project
- Preparation of WS and WW Masterplans and an Application for further Funding (Phase II) under the Cohesion Fund
- Project management including design, technical and financial management and supervision
