Key Features:
The project comprises the provision of a 40,000 PE waste water treatment plant and associated upgrades
of the collection network.
The collection network upgrades includes the provision of 2 new outlying pumping stations and the
provision of an additional 12km of sewers ranging from 300 to 1200mm in diameter.
The waste water treatment plant process comprises preliminary treatment (screening, degritting and
storm water handling), followed by primary sedimentation and an activated sludge process, resulting
in a final effluent standard of 25 mg/l BOD and 35 mg/l suspended solids. The discharges from the
plant are via separate storm and final effluent marine outfalls.
The sludge treatment process comprises anaerobic digestion, with biogas utilisation and dewatering.
