It is the policy of J. B. Barry and Partners Limited to comply with all safety and health legislation, to adhere to the general principles of prevention and to manage and conduct the company’s activities to ensure so far as is reasonably practicable the safety and health of all employees, visitors and contractors in all places of work. The company shall also comply with Codes of Practice and Irish Standards which are relevant to the company’s activities.
This commitment includes for the provision of sufficient resources for safety, health and welfare and in particular for the provision of a safe place of work, safe systems of work, safe plant and equipment and safe access to and egress from all places of work so far as is reasonably practicable to prevent injury and ill health.
The company shall comply in all respects with the duties related to construction work and shall ensure designs are prepared that are safe and without risk to health to those involved in or affected by their construction, use, maintenance and eventual demolition.
In order to achieve such compliance the company sees that employees are competent to perform whatever tasks are assigned to them through training that is provided on an on-going basis to maintain competence in accordance with the company CPD/training policy.
The company expects the co-operation of all employees regarding safety and health matters and satisfies the need for consultation with employees through regular meetings with selected employee safety representatives and staff.
The company strives to continually improve the management of safety and health through a regular review of all activities undertaken, the hazards involved and the precautions in place to control the risks arising from hazards identified. The company seeks continual improvement in its safety and health performance through monitoring progress on selected objectives and targets.
The content of this policy and other arrangements for safety and health are communicated to all employees at least annually and are made available to other interested parties. This policy and all aspects of safety and health management shall be reviewed at least annually to ensure continued suitability and effectiveness for the company.
