Balbriggan and Skerries Sewerage Scheme

Client: Fingal County Council
Location: Dublin, Ireland
Value: €25 Million
Scope: Stage (i) to (v) including PSDP

J. B. Barry and Partners Limited were appointed for the above scheme and carried out the original Preliminary Report. We also carried out a detailed WWTP site selection process and subsequent EIS. The Scheme was subsequently split into the following contracts.

Contract No.1 – DBO Contract:

  • Provision of a 70,000 PE WWTW with long sea outfall (2 km at 900mm diameter)
  • Provision of 1,500 m3 storm storage capacity and pumping station (Quay Street)
  • Provision of 250 l/s foul pump station (Isaacs Bower) and 4 km rising main (600mm)
  • Provision of 186 l/s foul pump station (Rush Road) and 3 km rising main (350mm)

J. B. Barry and Partners Limited subsequently carried out an EIS for the expansion of the WWTW to 70,000 PE and the DBO contract was varied to provide for the expansion. UV disinfection was also provided to comply with the revised EIS.

The Phase 1 (30,000 PE) works were complete in August 2007. The Phase 2 expansion to 70,000 PE was complete in September 2008.

Contract Documents have been prepared for a number of traditionally designed contracts for various elements of the Balbriggan and Skerries gravity sewer network. Approval to proceed to tender on these contracts is pending.
