The Project: Ringsend WwTP This project provides for the design and construction of a new expansion to the existing Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP) which serves much of Dublin City and its environs. The new expansion, currently being constructed by the Contractor shall (following commissioning) treat a portion of the settled wastewater arising at the Ringsend plant to a tertiary standard using a patented process.

The existing wastewater treatment plant at Ringsend was completed in 2003 and provides for treatment of the wastewater to a secondary standard for a nominal/design load of 1.64 Million Population Equivalent (PE). The expanded plant will provide for treatment of the wastewater to a secondary standard for a nominal/design load of 2.4 Million Population Equivalent (PE) The Resident Engineer (Mechanical) must:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Hold a degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications), or equivalent / satisfactory professional qualification, in engineering (ideally in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering);
  • Have at least 10 years’ post graduate relevant experience with at least 4 years’ relevant experience on site, supervising MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control & Automation) Works on water / wastewater engineering projects.
  • The candidate should have experience administering contracts using both the Public Works and FIDIC Contracts.
  • The candidate should have a good knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation and regulations.

Duties:
The RE shall undertake all of the duties and tasks assigned to them by the ER and shall be required to administer and supervise the contract during construction. The RE will be required to liaise with the appointed Project Manager and IW Capital Delivery throughout the Construction period. The RE shall comply with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act (2005) and the General Application Regulations 2007. He shall also perform his duties in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.
